Welcome to the Amrit (Shahi) Snan! Here is what to bring on Feb 2nd:

We welcome you as a co-creator of the event. Kumbh Mela is about all sampradayas of Dharmic religions coming together to celebrate their tradition, and to welcome each other in unity.
This page details what to bring and how to prepare for the event.

    1. Free lunch and dinner will be available: Please come early and have lunch, and stay back for a delicious dinner.
    2. Booth: As a co-creator for the event you will have a 10×10 booth with a table. This booth is free. Please bring a banner with your temple/org name. You can showcase your temple items, deities, books, flyers, etc.
    3. Kumbh Mela Procession: You will be part of the Kumbh Mela procession. Please invite your sangha members, as well as the members of your board to participate in the procession. Please bring your Temple Banner/Flag to hold during the procession (highly recommended)
    4. Country flag: if you are from outside the US please bring a flag of your country
    5. Bring Other procession paraphernalia like umbrellas, thombais etc.
    6. Rath with your deity: You are invited to bring your deity (utsava murthy) on the procession. You can either hand carry them or carry them on a trolley or a rath as per your convenience.
    7. Snan: You will be participating in the procession and snan (holy dip) where the deities will be dipped in the holy water. Please see the picture below. The dip will happen in a temporary pool filled with water that is energized by water from the Ganga river. The pool is shallow enough for you to dip your deity without stepping into the pool.
    8. Dress Code: You are requested to dress in traditional attire as per your sampradaya or tradition.

WHEN: The schedule of events (all times are Pacific):

  • Rudra homa starts at 8 am.
  • 12 noon: delicious lunch.
  • Set up your booth by 12.30 pm
  • Grand procession will start at 1.30 pm.
  • Amrit Snan: 3 pm
  • Address by the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam
  • Followed by VIP talks
